As an exercise in authoritative voice in design, I was tasked with finding a sign and redesigning it, altering its tone and overall feel. I found a poorly designed sticker, found on lots of light switches across campus, asking people to turn off the lights when not in a given room. It felt bland, almost cartoon-ish, and I knew I wanted to recreate it. My version is simpler, friendlier, and less hostile than before.
